Dehumanization through Propaganda is one of the most powerful and dangerous psychological and sociological processes in human history. It is the systematic stripping away of human status, dignity, and safety; making discrimination, oppression, and ultimately violence psychologically acceptable to the broader public.
Propaganda is made easily digestible, and emotionally charged through repetition, imagery, and language manipulation; conditioning the public to accept it as absolute truth.
Propagandists use specific rhetorical and visual strategies to bypass human empathy and trigger hostile response. They use the process of weaponizing metaphors to justify extreme measures. Groups are portrayed as inherently evil and/ or sadistic.
One of the most prominent form of propaganda used today is objectification and commodification which reduces human beings to numbers, subjects, and/ or statistics; stripping individuality and personal history. Human movements and resistance is described as "floods", "waves", and/ or "invasions". This removes human agency and frames people as an uncontrollable force of nature that must be dammed or repelled.

Psychologist Albert Bandura identified moral disengagement as the process by which people convince themselves that ethical standards do not apply in a particular context. Propaganda achieves this through euphemistic language, displacement of responsibility, and distortion of consequences. Sanitized terms are used to mask atrocities, violence is framed as an order from a higher legitimate authority or as a necessary defense mechanism, hiding the physical reality of violence from the public, making the suffering of the dehumanized invisible.
Today, dehumanization does not require state sponsored ministries; it is often decentralized and algorithmically amplified. Social media algorithms are designed to prioritize outrage and engagement. Dehumanizing memes, misinformation, and deepfakes spread rapidly in echo chambers, bypassing fact checking. Across the globe, people in power and media frame humans as "invaders", "criminals", or "others", stripping them of the empathy afforded to people fleeing poverty or war.
Dehumanization is an engineered human state which entirely dismantles the moral barriers to exploitation, torture, and mass murder. It is our responsibilty to educate ourselves to recognize logical fallacies and promote positive cooperation.
