Ever feel worthless for no reason at all? Nothing happened, but everything still feels heavy. You're not alone — and you're not broken.

Okay, so. I’m just going to write this because maybe someone else feels this too and nobody talks about it.
I’m talking about the feeling where you just... feel worthless. For no reason. Nothing happened. No one died. No one broke up with you. You didn’t fail a test. But you still feel like you’re not enough. Like you’re taking up space you don’t deserve.
I’ve been sitting in bed for an hour now, staring at the ceiling. Not scrolling. Not watching anything. Just thinking. And the only thing in my head is: Why do I feel like this?
That’s the worst part. You can’t explain it. You can’t even put it into words when someone asks “What’s wrong?” because what do you say? “I feel like I’m useless” — that sounds weird, dramatic, attention-seeking. So you just say “I’m tired.”
I’m tired. That’s the safe answer.
But honestly? I’m not just tired. I’m tired of myself.
I used to think you had to go through something awful to feel this way. Like abuse, death, trauma, losing your job, something obvious. But honestly? It’s usually the small stuff that builds up.
You keep comparing yourself. You see people doing better. Looking happier. Moving forward. And you’re just... stuck. Existing. Eating the same food. Same room. Same thoughts. And you start wondering if you’re just lazy or broken.
But maybe you’re just exhausted. Not lazy. Just exhausted in a way that sleep doesn’t fix.
I keep telling myself I should be grateful. That’s the worst thought too. “Other people have it worse.” Like, yeah, true. But does that mean I’m not allowed to feel bad? I have a roof. I have food. I have people. But still, this emptiness is there.
And I feel guilty for even feeling it. That’s the loop.
Anxiety is basically just your brain whispering “you’re screwing everything up” all day.
I’ll text someone and then read it ten times and want to delete it. I’ll remember something awkward from 2017 and physically cringe. I’ll sit down to rest and then feel guilty for not doing more. I’ll do something and feel like I did it wrong. I’ll do nothing and feel like I’m useless.
It’s like I can’t win.
And then depression joins the chat and says “why even try?”
Depression makes you forget the good parts. It makes you believe the worst stuff is the true stuff. I could have five people tell me I’m good, kind, smart, whatever — but one bad thought hits and I believe that one more.
That’s how it works. It doesn’t care about logic.
I’ve been around people and felt completely alone. I’ve laughed at jokes and still felt like I’m acting. I’ve replied to messages and felt like a robot. Not because I don’t love people — I do — but because I feel like I’m not bringing anything real to them. Like I’m a burden they’re too polite to admit.
I think that’s the word. Burden.
You feel like everyone is carrying you. Like they have to check on you. Like you’re this sad little project they didn’t sign up for.
And you hate that. So you pull away. You stop answering. You cancel plans. You say “I’m fine” until people stop asking. And then you feel even more alone because you did it to yourself.
But you don’t know how to stop.
Okay, I’m gonna be really honest here. I’m not saying I have a plan or anything. But sometimes, when it gets really bad, I think about how peaceful it would be to just not exist.
Not like I want to die dramatically. Just... disappear. Not be a problem anymore. Not wake up feeling this heavy weight on my chest. Not be scared of the next day.
If you’ve ever felt that, I’m not gonna say “oh no you have so much to live for.” Because you already know that. It’s not about logic. It’s about the feeling being too loud.
And if you’re feeling like that right now, please. Please tell someone. Call someone. Text someone. Even if you don’t know what to say. Just say “I don’t feel safe right now.” Or “I’m really scared of myself.” You don’t have to have the right words.
I know it feels dramatic. I know it feels embarrassing. But seriously, your brain is lying to you. You don’t have to listen to it alone.
I don’t have a perfect answer. I really don’t.
People say “go for a walk, drink water, journal, meditate” — and honestly, when you’re in this headspace, that stuff feels like a joke. Like, sure, a walk will definitely cure my lifelong feeling of being a waste of space.
But sometimes, doing literally nothing is too dangerous. So you do the smallest possible thing.
I get up. That’s it. I get out of bed. That’s a win. I drink some water. I wash my face. I open the window and look at the sky for like two minutes. That’s not a fix. But it’s proof that I’m still here.
And then I text someone. Not “I’m depressed.” Just... “Hey, are you free?” That’s enough.
Sometimes being near another person helps more than anything. Even if you don’t talk about the heavy stuff. Just hearing someone else breathe, laugh, exist — it reminds you that life is still happening around you. And maybe you can stay a little longer.
I really don’t have a powerful conclusion. I don’t have a “it gets better” speech because I don’t know if it does yet. But I’m still here. And if you’re reading this, you’re still here too.
And maybe that’s enough for today.
Maybe we’re not lazy. Maybe we’re not broken. Maybe we’re just people who feel too much and we’ve never been taught what to do with it.
So yeah. I feel worthless sometimes. For no reason. And I don’t know why. But I’m writing this. And maybe someone else needed to read it.
That’s all.
